About 100 people met in London at UKNOF50 on Thursday, 22 September 2022. Ten people participated online and engaged with industry colleagues using our Mattermost server. This was another hybrid event with all speakers presenting in our London venue. 11 speakers presented on a variety of Internet operations topics. We also programmed plenty of time for people to speak and network with each other.

• The opening talk came from Adil Baghir from A10 Networks. He spoke about Defending DNS services from multi-vector DDoS attacks.
• David Murray from Arista then spoke about 400G-ZR(+) Real World Examples.
• Then Gary Steers from NinjaMoose / Faelix told us Why not to follow a textbook.
• After the break, Piotr Rydlichowski of PCSN updated us on Quantum Key Distribution activities within GÉANT and the NREN community.
• He was followed by Vincentz Petzholtz from Inter.link who explained how they Automate RIPE DB handling with NetBox.
• Then Simon Beevers gave the Axians Sponsored Presentation – Paragon Active Assurance.
• After lunch, Geoff Bennett of Infinera told us about Hollow Core Fiber: What is it and Why should you be interested?
• He was followed by Ben Cartwright-Cox explained The unending misery of bgp.tools.
• After the break, Camelia Simion from Team Cymru spoke about Security in/with Community Services.
• Then, Rene Fichtmueller of the Global NOG Alliance then updated us on their Keep Ukraine Connected project 
• Then Steve Wright from 4D Data Centres explained Electrickery – Energy Buying & Pricing

Finally, we enjoyed a retrospective, looking back at the development of UKNOF over more than 50 events. 

Keith Mitchell then closed the meeting and invited everyone to the LONAP social. Thanks, LONAP!

UKNOF News

The UKNOF Annual Meeting will take place online on Thursday, 10 November. Anyone interested is welcome to join. We’ll announce registration soon.

We are planning two events for 2023. The first will take place at Manchester Central Convention Centre on Monday and Tuesday, 3 and 4 April 2023.

If you are interested in presenting at UKNOF, please submit your proposal or contact any member of the Programme Committee.
